Pre-Masters Program

This 1-year program offers the tools necessary for academic success at the graduate level.

Program Overview

The Pre-Master’s Program is designed for students who need to meet the requirements for entry into North American graduate programs. It allows students to adapt to academic and cultural differences, to develop graduate level skill-sets, and to assess their individual needs and integrate their learning in order to prepare themselves for master’s level work. The time commitment for this program is approximately 20 hours per week and consists of seminars, lectures, tutorials, and independent study/research/writing.

Students applying to the Pre-Master’s Program come with individual needs. Upon acceptance to the program, students will be assessed based on their academic backgrounds, grade point averages (GPA), English levels, and graduate program goals. Throughout the Pre-Master’s Program, students will continue to be assessed in order to establish realistic timelines for application to graduate schools.

Admission

Students without an official English score must write a pre-assessment test at Kennedy College one week prior to entry into the Pre-Master's Program. Any students who are assessed lower than the entry level score may register for Intensive English and Exam Preparation courses and take the Pre-Master's Program at a later date.

Application

All applicants must complete an application form, submit copies of academic records, and provide a statement of English language proficiency to Kennedy College. Once received, students will be sent an invoice and further instructions for official registration, and for obtaining a visa.
